Steven Bell brings more than 20 years of law enforcement, corrections and regulatory compliance experience across the UK, New Zealand and Australia to every investigation and training programme. That depth of experience, from front-line policing through to senior compliance and inspectorate roles, shapes the standard every Bell Investigations engagement is held to: findings have to stand up to scrutiny, from the people involved, from HR, and from the courtroom if it comes to that.
Steven began his career with Thames Valley Police before moving into detective roles with the London Metropolitan Police, including several years with a specialist unit investigating child protection and family violence matters, work that required particular care in interviewing vulnerable witnesses and preparing evidence that stood up in court. His investigative work earned him three Police Commendations for life-saving investigations.
After relocating to New Zealand, Steven served as a Corrections Officer before joining the Department of Corrections' Office of the Inspectorate, conducting national prison inspections against the Corrections Act 2004 and the United Nations' Nelson Mandela Rules, and authoring reports for Ministers and the Ombudsman. He went on to manage the Criminal Caseflow team at Wellington High Court, lead compliance and monitoring at the Environmental Protection Authority, and lead a specialist financial investigations team for Queensland Treasury, experience that now underpins the independent, defensible standard Bell Investigations applies to workplace investigations and training.
